E non sto parlando del vecchio film anni ’90 con Rob Lowe, ma della mostra ITALIAN NEWBROW-Cattive Compagnie che inaugurerà mercoledì 8 agosto al Fortino di Forte dei Marmi. Il progetto Italian Newbrow nasce nel 2009 da un’idea di Ivan Quaroni, curatore della mostra e dell’omonimo libro che verrà presentato in questa occasione, con l’intento di promuovere con forza e orgoglio la giovane arte italiana e in particolar modo quella che ha saputo esprimere i cambiamenti culturali e sociali degli ultimi 10 anni. Newbrow, letteralmente “nuovo ciglio”, altrimenti detto nuovo profilo, un aspetto nuovo e inedito di fare arte… questi 8 artisti, pur avendo modi differenti di esprimerla attraverso le loro opere, hanno in comune il documentare il lato oscuro della società contemporanea. Giuseppe Veneziano utilizza personaggi e icone universalmente riconoscibili, Vanni Cuoghi usa le fiabe per sottolineare gli impulsi negativi che si nascondono nell’immaginario fantastico, Silvia Argiolas costruisce un personale universo parallelo per trattare il problema del “Mal di vivere”, Giuliano Sale descrive il turbamento esistenziale con un realismo quasi carnale. Paolo De Biasi, attraverso la pittura, dà la sua versione di realtà trasmettendo di essa il senso di urgenza e vitalità. Michael Rotondi dipinge il suo diario visivo, in cui le sue impressioni ed esperienze si sovrappongono al “vissuto collettivo” della sua generazione. Diego Dutto, con la scultura, ipotizza un futuro dispotico e post-umano popolato di androidi. Infine, ma non per importanza, Massimiliano Pelletti, conosciuto l’anno scorso e di cui spesso vi ho parlato, che con piacere ho rivisto ieri prima della conferenza stampa. Sarà proprio la sessione “Contiene parti ingeribili” a fare gli onori di casa… Teche in plexiglas, installazioni e cortometraggio RAPINA FUNKY realizzati con i Playmobil, saranno la dimostrazione che ciò che vuole essere un gioco formativo per bambini è in realtà molto di più… le pistole, i pugnali e le armi dei personaggi non sono altro che lo specchio del mondo che gli stessi piccini incontreranno crescendo. La mostra è aperta dall’8 agosto al 2 settembre, tutti i giorni in questi orari: 10.00- 12.30; 17.00-24.00, l’ingresso è libero. Non mancate all’inaugurazione mercoledì 8 agosto dalle 18.00 alle 21.00.

Giuseppe Veneziano uses universally recognizable characters and icons, Vanni Cuoghi uses fairy-tales to underline the negative drives hidden in the imaginary world, Silvia Argiolas builds her personal parallel universe to deal with the “Mal de vivre”, Giuliano Sale describes the existential malaise with an almost carnal realism. Paolo De Biasi, through his paintings, expresses his vision of the society and its sense of urgency vitality. Michael Rotondi paints his visual diary, where impressions and experiences overlap the “collective experiences” of his generation. Diego Dutto, with his sculptures, hypothesizes a tyrannical, post-human future ruled by androids. Last, but not least, , Massimiliano Pelletti, who I met last year and of whom I’ve often written on my blog. I met him again yesterday before the press conference. And the session “Contiene parti ingeribili” will open the event… Plexiglas cases, sets and the short film RAPINA FUNKY starring Playmobil figures will be the evidence that educational toys for children mean more than that… the guns, daggers and weapons of these characters are the expression of our world that children will know while growing up.
