Un paio d’anni fa mi trovavo nella mia bottega di Chanel preferita…qualcuno d’importante era lì e mi chiese un parere sulle nuove collezioni della maison…mi lusingò molto, ma dissi la verità: dissi che mi mancavano i pezzi divertenti che c’erano una volta, quelli che era più facile trovare in una cruise piuttosto che in una prêt-à-porter. Avevo in mente l’immagine smarty di quella Claudia Schiffer che indossava la borsa in vinile matelassé a forma di cuore, le grandi camelie, gli accessori coloratissimi, la bigiotteria vistosa…si, quello mancava, a me sopratutto! Ora, non credo che il boss in questione abbia preso appunti sulle mie considerazioni, ma sono stata accontentata e questo mi basta. La moda e gli anni passano, ma lo stile che da sempre calca la passerella del Grand Palais non solo resta, a volte ritorna. Una collezione in cui gli accessori sono i veri protagonisti: gli stivaletti bicolore morbidi, le macro perle che diventano collane e bracciali, i grandi bangles di forma quadrata da alternare alle immancabili manchette, i guanti con ricami e applicazioni, le borse…grandi, piccole, morbide, rigide, da portare a mano, a bandoulière o sulle spalle. La Lego-Bag, riproposta in nuovi colori, e la nuova Boy con inserti in tweed sapranno colmare il vuoto di quella che aspettavamo e che non è arrivata? Chissà…ma nel sorriso smagliante di Karl un cuore c’è eccome…anche se non è una borsa!

Some two years ago I was in my favourite Chanel boutique….someone important was there and asked for my opinion about the new collections of the maison…though I was flattered, I told him the truth: I said that I missed the cheerful pieces of the past, those that were easily found in a cruise rather than in a  prêt-à-porter collection. I had a smarty image in my mind of Claudia Schiffer wearing a patent matelassé bag with a heart shape, the majestic camellias, colourful accessories, flashy bijoux….Yes, that what I missed! Now, I don’t think that this boss chap took notes on my considerations but I have what I wanted now and that’s enough. Fashion and years go by but the style that has always been showed at the Grand Palaisremains, or better, sometimes it comes back. A collection in which accessories are the real protagonists: soft bi-colour ankle boots, macro-pearls that become necklaces and bracelets, the big square bangles and the iconic manchette, embroidered gloves and bags…large, small, soft, rigid, hand-bags, bandoulières or shoulder bags. Will the Lego-Bag in new colours and the Boy bag with tweed inserts be able to fill the gap of the bags we were waiting for but hasn’t come yet? Who knows…but in Karl’s brilliant smile, there’s a heart beating…even if it’s not a bag!
