Fashion victim…che buffa combinazione di parole! La usiamo spesso, ma sappiamo davvero cosa significa? Quando diciamo di essere dipendenti dal sistema moda, lo diciamo sul serio o tanto per dirlo? Se per definizione una vittima è chi subisce una sopraffazione, chi è danneggiato da una situazione, forse stiamo usando questo termine sorvolando volutamente sulla sua sfumatura negativa, solo per condire con leggerezza un’espressione che contiene la parola”moda”. Ma la domanda che mi faccio è: chi è al servizio di chi? Quando facciamo shopping, siamo noi a metterci a servizio della moda o è la moda a produrre beni e servizi per accontentare la nostra domanda? Se compriamo per il gusto di farlo, perché ci piace, usando il nostro gusto e i nostri mezzi, perchè definirci vittime? E’ come essere dei verbi e stabilire se definirci transitivi o intransitivi? Siamo noi a compiere l’azione o la stiamo subendo? Se noi non ci fossimo, neppure la moda esisterebbe e se LEI non ci fosse per noi sarebbe una noia mortale! Come la vedo io? La moda è nata per alleviare la vita, per migliorarla. Nessuna vittima, nessun carnefice e un buon compromesso: mai abusarne, mai farne a meno!

Fashion victim…what a weird combination of words! we often use this expression but are we sure that we understand its exact meaning?
When we say that we are dependant from the fashion system, do we really mean it or not? If a victim is someone who suffers from an injustice, someone who suffers a damage, perhaps we often use this term not considering the negative sense of the word itself, only to dress up an expression with frivolity and only because it’s part of the “fashion” world but it’s also true that the fashion industry doesn’t like this flippancy! So I wonder: who is at the service of who? Are we at the service of fashion when we go shopping? Or else, is it the fashion industry that produces good and service to meet the demand? If we buy things because we love shopping, we follow our taste and we use our own means, why shall be labelled as victims? Well, if we were verbs, would we be transitive or intransitive? Are you acting or suffering an action? If we didn’t exist, fashion wouldn’t too…and for us too, a world without fashion would be extremely boring! My point of view? Fashion was born to make life more delicate and better, no victims and no tormentors simply a compromise: never abuse but never do without!
