ei trend di stagione ne parlano tutti, ma non posso fare a meno di chiedermi: cos’è davvero il trend? Mia nonna direbbe che è quella giacca lunga che si stringe in vita con una cintura… – No nonna, quello è il trench – ma credo siano in pochi quelli che sanno davvero che cos’è. Quello che normalmente viene definito trend e deciso da chissà chi, dopo un’attenta riunione di condominio, non è solo il pezzo del guardaroba che andrà di moda in quella stagione, ma è l’atteggiamento con cui lo si porta. Se assembli un paio di capi senza aggiungere il tuo stile non serve a niente. Non è cosa si indossa, ma come la si indossa a fare la differenza. Puoi avere l’armadio più grande del mondo, ma se ti vesti senza usare un pizzico di personalità, nessuno ti noterà mai. A quel punto senza interpretazione del gusto, si gode di qualcosa che è privo di anima. L’outfit è come un piatto da cucinare. Si cucina per stupire. (Le mie figlie stanno ancora aspettando questo momento?). Non bastano gli ingredienti giusti, servono la capacità e la tecnica per per esaltarne i sapori e renderlo unico.

Everyone talks about the season’s trends but I can’t help asking myself: what is the word trend really about? My grandmother would probably say that a trend is a long raincoat belted at the waist with a self-belt… – No granny that’s a trench (coat) – but I believe that very few people really know what a trend is. What we generally call trend – and who knows where the word comes from – after a painstaking commonholders’ meeting, is not only the most fashionable piece of clothing for the season, but above all it is a question of attitude of those who wear it. If you assemble a couple of pieces of clothing without adding some personal style it is useless. It is not what you wear, but how you wear it, that makes the difference. You may own the largest wardrobe in the world, but if you dress without personality, no one will pay attention. At that stage of tasteless interpretation, you can only enjoy something soulless. An outfit is like a dish: you cook to impress. (my daughters are still waiting for my time to come?). The right ingredients are not enough, you need the technical ability to exalt flavors and make it unique.
