Dopo quasi 40 anni dalla prima esperienza cinematografica, il romanzo di Scott Fitzgerald, “Il Grande Gatsby”, torna sul grande schermo. Sono cambiati gli attori, ma l’atmosfera è rimasta la stessa… Robert Redford e Mia Farrow passano il testimone a Leonardo Di Caprio e Carey Mulligan per farci rivivere l’epoca del jazz e la storia del grande sogno americano, la storia del Grande Gatsby e del suo altrettanto grande amore per Daisy. “Non si può ripetere il passato!” “Non si può ripetere il passato? Ma certo che si può!” Così recita una delle frasi del film in questione e se l’edizione del 1974 vinse due premi Oscar per i migliori costumi e per la migliore colonna sonora, anche questa volta le aspettative sono alte. Ma a chi affidare il compito di portare a casa una vittoria quasi annunciata? A Prada naturalmente, che insieme a Catherine Martin, ha realizzato gli abiti di scena. Abiti che rispecchiano fedelmente lo stile dell’epoca, ma proposti in chiave moderna, utilizzando quello spirito retrò che spesso si ritrova nelle creazioni della maison. Curiosi? Il film uscirà nelle sale italiane il 16 maggio, ma se vi trovate a New York, il nuovo diavolo vestito Prada potrete vederlo dal vivo, alla mostra Catherine Martin and Miuccia Prada Dress Gatsby fino al 12 di questo mese. Un allestimento di tutti i look dei personaggi, accompagnati da video di scene del film e del backstage. Se non sapete come organizzare questa gita a breve, contate sul fatto che l’esposizione si sposterà poi a Tokyo e a Shanghai. Io opterò per un buon posto al cinema e per un paio di occhiali in 3D ;-)!

Who’s going to be in charge of such almost pre-announced victory? Prada of course, which together with Catherine Martin, has made all the costumes. Clothes that perfectly mirror the style of the time though in a modern key, using that retro flair which can often be traced in the creations by the maison. Curious? The movie is coming to Italian theatres from May 16, but if you happen to be in New York, the new devil wears Prada can be viewed live, at Catherine Martin and Miuccia Prada Dress Gatsby Exhibition until May 12. If you don’t know how to plan this trip shortly, you might be happy to know that the exhibition will move onto Tokyo and Shanghai afterwards. I myself will go for a good seat in the front and a pair of 3D glasses 😉 !
