 “The Little Black Jacket: Chanel’s classic revisited by Karl Lagerfeld and Carine Roitfeld”. Così si intitolerà il prossimo libro dedicato alla couture di Chanel, disponibile dal prossimo autunno e che accompagnerà una mostra dedicata a Tokyo dal 24 Marzo al 15 Aprile 2012. A questo progetto non poteva mancare il supporto fotografico del grande Karl Lagerfeld che per questo servizio, girato a Cannes, New York e Parigi, ha riunito più di cento celebrities. Attori, artisti, cantanti, rock star, tra cui Sarah Jessica Parker, Georgia May Jagger, Alice Dellal, Maïwenn, Laetitia Casta, Virginie Ledoyen e Akuol de Mabior; Un omaggio alla giacca di Chanel “intramontabile e senza tempo, diventata il simbolo di una particolare eleganza e femminilità, di una certa nonchalance: semplicemente perfetta in ogni momento”. E in punta di piedi fu proprio Mademoiselle Chanel, androgina e dai modi maschili, a sconfiggere le seduzioni eccessive della Bella Epoque, sconvolgendo gli standard di bellezza che prima di lei erano sovrani. “L’angelo sterminatore d’uno stile XIX secolo”. Nessuna guaina, nessun bustino, nessuna stecca di balena, nessuna sottogonna, nessuna smanceria, nessun imbroglio… “l’eleganza dell’abbigliamento sta nella libertà di movimento”, per questa ragione Chanel odiava l’eccesso, il superfluo e propose l’essenzialità e la praticità nell’abbigliamento della vita vera delle donne. Tutto ebbe inizio nella sua maison a Parigi, un territorio tra presente e passato, articolato intorno ad una scala, pieno di specchi che un tempo permettevano a Coco, nascosta sui gradini, di scrutare le sfilate e osservare segretamente le reazioni degli invitati; certo le sue indossatrici, Marie Hélène, Odile e Mimi, non ci sono più, il brusio dei giorni di sfilata risuona altrove, ma è rimasto Karl Lagerfeld…fedele alle sue volontà, che con grande abilità ha costruito “un avvenire migliore con gli elementi forniti dal passato”.

No more corsets, bustier, whalebones, no petticoats, no gush, no tricks ….. “the elegance of clothing lies in being able to move freely with what you’re wearing”, This is the reason why Chanel hated the excess and the flamboyance and offered a minimal and cosy style for a woman’s everyday life. Everything started in her atelier in Paris, a place where present and past merged, developed around a stair, full of mirrors that allowed Coco, hidden on the steps, to peep at her catwalks and observe the reaction of the guests; of course her mannequins, Marie Hélène, Odile and Mimi aren’t there anymore the echo of frantic fashion shows now resounds somewhere else, but Karl Lagerfeld is still here…faithful to her legacy the one who managed to build “ a better future with elements of the past”.
